ALL I WANT TO DO IS MAKE PUPPETS AND MAKE THEM MOVE
I’ve always been a hands-on, scrappy crafter, I'm drawn to things that make me feel gross...like I want to look away but also can't stop looking at it feeling...that's a special place. When I first discovered stop motion, I was immediately obsessed with how it consistently had this strange, very unsettling feel, no matter the genre. There’s something disturbing about bringing inanimate objects to life...the way it moves, the textures, the mini handmade worlds where life stands still. It’s very creepy, a little gross, so cute-it-hurts-tiny, I love everything about it. When I realized that everything I saw on screen actually existed—that these puppets and sets were real, physical objects—I knew this was exactly something I needed to create. There are so many aspects to creating a stop motion film and it combines everything I love to do! All my seemingly random range of interests and skills seems to find their home in stop motion.
Right now, I’m deep into my most ambitious project yet: home, a solo stop motion short film that feels like the culmination of every creative skill I’ve developed so far. It's a little less creepy than previous work, but it feels heavier than the rest and I feel the most connected to it over anything else I've created. From designing the initial concepts to building every tiny detail—the set, the furniture, the props, and, of course, my two adorable puppets—this project has been an unforgettable challenge. And now, as I bring them to life through animation, I realize just how much I've learned along the way.
You can follow the progress and behind-the-scenes moments of home on my Animations & Puppets pages here, or on the film's dedicated Instagram: @home_stopmofilm

WITH A COMPUTER FILLED WITH HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF PHOTOS OF PUPPETS AND PROPS, I'M NOW REALIZING I HAVE NONE WITH ME IN THEM...BUT HERES MY HAND WITH ONION, IT DOES MOST OF THE WORK.
THANKS FOR STOPPING BY!
